Salter Land & Timber
Phil Salter established Salter Land & Timber, LLC to purchase standing timber from landowners and sell to International Paper in Augusta & Savannah, Battle Lumber Company, Howard Lumber, West Frasier, & Lamb Brothers.
Phil Salter has been connected to the forestry business all his life. His father Avery Salter started working for Southland Timber Company in the early 1950’s. In 1958 Avery moved to Waynesboro, Ga to buy timber for Continental Can Company (the new paper mill in Augusta, Georgia). Phil’s father purchased the first load of wood delivered to the new mill and Charles Thompson, Phil’s uncle, delivered the load.
Phil started his career in the forestry industry in 1979, purchasing wood for Southland Timber Company. In 2000, he partnered with George Gunn in Millen, Georgia, as President of Screven Wood Company buying standing timber for International Paper in Augusta and Savannah. Phil decided to start up his own business in 2010, Salter Land & Timber LLC. He is proud of the hard work he has accomplished in his 34 years in the forestry business. He is a qualified master timber harvester.
Phil Salter's lifelong dedication to the forestry industry has shaped Salter Land & Timber, LLC into a respected and reliable timber buying business in Georgia. With a strong family heritage rooted in the timber trade and over 45 years of hands-on experience, Phil continues to serve landowners across the state with integrity, expertise, and competitive pricing. Salter Land & Timber remains committed to providing quality service and upholding the values that have defined Phil's career in the forestry business.
